Hey guys, just a word or two to introduce myself, I AM BLIND I use the computer with the aid of specialised audible assistive software but I will NEVER allow my disability to overpower my ABILITIES.
I use ALL all of the IO Bit suite (so do most of the kids in our Blind Club) except that Malware Fighter thingy - I think it is a waste of time - the Internet has more rubbish than the average landfill site and this is gonna sound weird but getting rid of the crap relieves the boredom sometimes I will most probably be coming to you guys with problems but if any of you are having problems choosing the right assistive software then please do not hesitate to get in touch. If however you guys get bored during this Pandemic then please download and Install NVDA now turn off the monitor and use the pc as we do with our ears - we use standard QWERTY keyboards the same as you guys except you guys have the advantage of being able to see the keys we have to remember lol
    Take Care Guys
    regards

Welcome. I had assumed that the assistive keyboards would have braille symbols in place of the flat letters.

I have to laugh when I see the braille symbols on the drive-up ATM machine. I hope no one driving is blind and depends on braille to get money from the ATM.

@plodr Happy to see it amuses you, please do not assume it only makes an ASS out of U and ME lol. I must admit I have never heard of a drive up ATM however I have driven or more correctly been driven in an Autonomous (DRIVERLESS) vehicle as a tester here in the UK, it's safe but very scary going down a motorway at 70mph in what in theory is a computerised glass fibre box on wheels

Ah, an explanation. ATM stands for Automated Teller Machine. People put in a bank issued card, pick an account and get money.
In the UK, they are called cash machines.
Eldon, what is the term in South Africa?

Thank you I was aware of the Acronym but it also stands for `Ass To Mouth` lol yeah I use cash Machines quite a lot it's quite simple to use a pin number as there is a raised dot on the 5 key so it is quite simple to navigate from there but thanks for the explanation
I have a challenge for you
Download NVDA (it's Free) from https://www.nvaccess.org/download/ install it and then TURN OFF YOUR MONITOR now use the PC in the same way I do, with your ears. Should be fun but it can also be used for sighted folk as well perhaps if you want to listen to emails, articles whilst performing another task

I'm more visual. I never listen to emails, have google voice search turned off and removed from my homescreen on android tablets and I generally turn off notifications.
I'm in my 70's and can no longer multi-task the way I could when I was younger. All that noise interferes with my train of thought.
