Virtual memory settings??

    Hey this has happened twice it says updating system virtual memory and then it does it but it pretty much crashes my system I just need to know how hight I can set the virtual memory I have a 160 gig hard drive and most of the space is free I have 142 gigs free initial size 384 mb max 1152 but what should it be set at ?? thanks for your help it's appreciated.

    You're actual settings seem fine, how much RAM do you have installed?

    This is going to sound bad but I dont know I have had the computer for 3 1/2 years and I dont know how much ram I have or how to find out.

    Hit the windows key + pause/break. Look in the box that pops up.

    Maximum size a page file can be set.....wait...
    VM? What OS are you running?

    Typcial settings are 2.5 to 3 times your memory size.

    But, normally, just let windows manage it.

    There are other ways to manage pagefile size, but they are rather complicated.

    did you follow the instructions I posted and delete the pagefile.sys, in case your VM is corrupt?
