I am running Vista on my computer right now. For one of my classes we have to download Virtual PC2007 and then download Vista Business onto it. We are getting the download for Vista Business through a website offered by the school. I have the Virtual downloaded and now went to download the Vista Business. It won't give me the option of downloading it to a DVD. Only option I have is to a C:\Temp. It has been downloading now for over an hour and is at 25%. My question is once the download completes, can I copy it to DVD? Or how do I get it on my Virtual? The instructions from the instructor stressed having it on DVD, but I could not get it to download there. I have already asked in our discussion boards there, but I am not getting any help, so thought I would ask here.
    Thanks.

I downloaded Windows 7 in Iso form and put it on a dvd then promptly un-installed it from my C drive (big mistake) when i wanted to load it to Virtual PC it took almost 7 hours and i believe (not absolutely sure) that it would be faster directly from "C"

    Hi Gal

What format is this download in, if its ISO then use ImgBurn to burn it to DVD, then follow this guide to setting up VPC 2007

    Interesting guide David.
Just 1 question please (i don't want to hijack the thread)
are you limited by how much ram the machine has (mine is 4gb) can i in theory run 4 X 1gb vitual PCs?

From the school website, I downloaded what was called DeliveryClient--e-academy Inc. It is an application of 404KB. When I clicked on that to start it, all it says is
    Windows Business DVD with SP!.
    Install space needed 6628 MB.
    Unpacked Directory C:\Temp.
Shows it is at downloading stage, next is unpacking, then launch Install.
This is very confusing to me this morning.
How do I get it to DVD?:confused

Yes and I in Windows 7 on this Vista PC which I installed in a VPC of Win7 just used 500mb ram for the virtual space, it works fine for a test of OS, but if using for daily use go with 1GB ram.

Me too on confused, if its not a single file as in ISO or allows you in unpacking stage to burn to DVD then I would contact your tutor and ask HOW DO I BURN THIS TO DVD?

Virtual PC needs the file to be in ISO format as you can mount those directly or in DVD format to install.

I will wait and see if when it gets to unpacking I can burn it to DVD? Our instructor left last night and won't be back until late tomorrow night, so not much help there.
Another student said he has completed it, so I might e-mail him directly and ask how he did it. Maybe I can get an answer from him if he is online.

Yes Gal that would be best bet in asking the other student on how they did this, sadly I dont know the location your downloading form and its file format.

I emailed the student, and I guess I will just wait now. Hopefully next stage, I can burn it to DVD. Thanks for the help.

I certainly didn't feel you were hijacking it. Yours is a very good question and something I was wondering, too, as I start to get into the VPC stuff.
