virtual pc question

hi all,

not a problem just a little info needed,

i am going to install a virtual operating system on my pc, i am using virtual pc 2004 sp1 and want to install w2k as the virtual o/s (maybe other systems as well),
i have it all set up and put my cd in the drive, going through setup i got the screen in the image, i have never noticed this screen before when installing w2k 'for real',
if i continue with setup will i corrupt my origional system or does this screen (and the warning) just relate to the virtual drive ?

as long as it is running VPC, and you havent rebooted into windows 2000 setup...its safe. It found a partition or filesystem incomaptible with windows. Its warning you that you will have to repartition and/or format the virtual partition to make 2000 work.

i thought that might be the case, just needed a little confirmation before i jumped in,

its all working ok so far,

just one more question though - i have a radeon 9550 vid card thats all fine in my 'real w2k' but in the virtual one its not detected - am i right in thinking that i have to install all the mobo drivers, which will then allow for detection of the vid card ?

 

No the virtual PC has virtual hardware. So it will not detect your ATI card, motherboard type, etc. You can share real devices with the vm like ports but that is about it. It loads windows generic drivers for all the virtual hardware.
