Virtual RAM Windows 10 64bit

Running Win10 64 bit on old system board Asrock 4Core1600-GLAN with 4 GB RAM (3.19 GB usable)
I have set my Virtual memory to the recommended value 1303 MB / Max 1953 MB.

Would it benefit the performance if I increased the virtual RAM beyond the recommended?
I have noticed after googling this that some people recommend Virtual Ram to be up to 4 times the installed RAM.
Any thoughts on this matter would be truly welcome.

Only you can really tell how much virtual memory is needed If you don't have enough, the next program that asks Windows for 'more', will silently crash... For most Windows resources, I consider 92% used to be the critical point, below ~70% used, response is better as Windows needs to shuffle data less.

Watch the page file usage carefully, check it during heavy usage, maybe keep HWiNFO or similar monitoring software running in the background to log usage, or use a batch file to check (#34 here)...

As a baseline, try a fixed 2GB min and max size, if you run heavy software/games or multitask for more than 2-3 hours, try a fixed 3GB or a flexible 3GB ->4GB. Don't forget to check again if your usage/sessions changes/becomes longer - I change my page file size(s - multiple drives) several times per year.

If you hit more than ~1.5GB PF regularly, it really needs more RAM fitted, maybe grab some suitable DDR3 while prices are still reasonable? Or just reboot frequently, like the '90's Or allow Windows to use whatever disk space it wants...

My system board has a maximum RAM of 4 GB which I have installed. There are 2 free slots and it uses DDR2's. Perhaps I should just let Windows take care of it and click the relevant box.

Yup, it's quite valid to use the Windows auto page file setting, the vast majority of users do quite well with it
