Each time I turn on the Laptop I'll get this prompt telling me to "Insert CDROM with Virtual Truck program. Looking for file: E:\installs\PaceUSB\VTruck2.exe" I saw a thread in the archive and they got a very easy solution using "run" at the start menu... however i'm using stupid windows vista home edition and it doesn't have a "run" at the start menu so any of you guys know how to fix this for vista?

'search' on the Vista menu works like run.

If that bothers you though, you can either right click on the start menu and choose properties to change it.

Or, hit Win-R key to bring up the box.

Problem with Virtual Truck every restart

In some circumstances (believed to be associated with previous failed installations that did not run to normal completion), on every restart, Windows asks for:

    Insert CDRom.
Please insert your CDRom with the Virtual Truck program. Looking for file:
    E:\INSTALLS\TERAETH\VTRUCK.EXE

The name of the file requested may differ in detail. Even after inserting the CD-ROM, the PC continues to make the same request on every restart. To repair this situation under Windows 98/ME:

    * Click Start, click Run.
    * Enter msconfig and click OK.
    * Click tab Win.ini to bring it to the front.
    * Click the [+] sign beside [windows] to expand this item.
    * If you see an entry run= involving \vtagent\reboot.exe, then uncheck it.
    * Click OK to exit the System Configuration Utility.

thanks found it but this doesnt seem to work for vista it keep re selecting after i unselect it and click apply

thanks found it however the troubleshoot doesnt work for Vista because whenever i unselect it and click apply or ok it reselects itself and the prompt continues to pop up as soon as i log in... this is getting rather annoying and it's a brand new laptop my boss brought in for my mum.

I see. So its in the win.ini for sure?

Then, go to start, search and type sysedit.

Find the file you need and edit it there.

this is what i did, i right click on the start menu click properties change it to a classic look then click on run after that i typed in msconfig and hit Ok. once i did that a System configuration window came up, didnt see the Win.ini tab they were talking about but i did see a startup tab so i click on it and look through the list they had there and the very last item on the list was a Reboot Application that was unknown but the command name was VTagent.exe i wasnt sure if it was the correct thing so i went to task manager and went to the process of the virtual truck that was still current open in the background and they both had the same name so i'm sure that's that correct file.

i'm unfamiliar with Win.ini and when i type in that command a window that look like jibrist to me came up :cry

The forum is being cranky and moderating posts.

    Dont ask why...

You need to expand out that msconfig column for location and get the exact path where it is loading from.
