Can virus and trojan software see viruses/trojans in "double zipped" packages?

Can they open and see "any" compression?

What about if a "rar" file is inside a "zip" file?

I know pc-cillian and Panda can see inside zips. most can I think. I don't know
about RAR files, but as soon as they were decompressed they would be checked by the real-time scanners.

Avast will scan six folders deep into a zip file and it will scan RAR files and it will scan a RAR inside a zip file - I just checked.
