Virus!!! Help!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm kind of new to the computer thing and I just recently downloaded an item and my Norton 2003 picked it up as a trojan downloader virus which is in my C:\WINDOWS\temp internet files\content.IE5. At the moment of detection I was unable to delete or quarantine so I manually restarted the computer and immediately ran a manual virus scan. The Norton didn't locate any viruses and now I'm afraid the virus is still in my computer and I'll never be able to locate or delete it. I receive live updates to my AV so it should be up to date. What should I do to protect my computer. Help Please!!!!!! Thanks. Matthew.

 

Ok m8 dont panic, i expect if your scan shows nothing now the virus has been sorted
If you want to make sure clean out your temporary internet files as you listed this as the holding folder so in internet explorer do this
1. Go into the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
2. In the Temporary Internet Files area, select Delete Files
3. Don't click the Delete all offline content box if you store offline pages Click OK.

And just for a double check run an online scan for viruses here

I went ahead and ran both panda and trojanscan and both results came back negative. So I guess all is well. The thing that really concerned my is after I thought I'd picked up this virus I noticed my desktop would loose its active state and would resort to a white background. This can easily be fixed by going into display and changing it back but is a hassle. I thought maybe it was the beginning of problems which had arisen from the virus but I guess not. Anyone know what might be causing this problems? Thanks. Matthew.
