Virus that just wont leave

Hello all.

I have gotten a virus stuck in a system restore point folder in my system volume information folder.

I have tried un-hiding the folder (currently i can't see it, avg is just telling me thats where it is.) by going tools/foler option/view/ check the box that says show hidden file and folders. This showed me all the other hidden things but not the system volume information folder. I have tried starting up in safe mode with a command prompt and typing the name in but it just says "access is denied" I have tried running avg Antivirus's test on the drive that avg itself is saying it is in.....but it can't find it... even though it keeps popping p little warning saying it's found it in said location and to scan there... so i'm pissed. Currently i'm installing another antivirus program called avast.. i hope this will work... Oh and one other thing i was going to try is just running the disk clean-up wizard and deleting all but the last restore point... but naturally that's busted and just freezes seconds after i open it... So if anybody knows how to fix that that would be nice to.. i've tried running the sfc from the run prompt and having windows find broken stuff and fix it automatically... but that didnt work..

I really need to figure this out because lately i have been having problems with credit card fraud.... and well to make a long story short.. somebody hacking my computer seems to be one of the probable causes at this point... but i have tracked down the person doing it.... and well i have frozen accounts so i guess the can hack all they want at this point and it would do little good... but ack... thats a whole nother story.. needless to say i'm very very very very pissed off.

 

Sounds like you'll have to flush System restore. Go to the Spyware Specific Forum and firstREAD THE PINNED POSTS AT THE TOP - Too many people don't do this and bypass a possible easy solution to their problems If you still have problems, post a new thread there and you'll get some excellent help!
