    Ok, information we need:

    1. What was the last thing you did, or installed before it went down?
    2. What kind of internet access (DSL or cable)?
    3. What is your IP address, and default gateway (start-run, ipconfig /all)
    4. What is the model of the wireless NIC and router/AP?

Delete the bridge in Network Connections.

Does the wireless NIC still show media disconnected when you do an ipconfig /all?

::sorry about the start-run thing. Typed this as I was running out the door. I meant to stay, start-run, cmd, ipconfig /all

if you're running windows xp, the hardware sharing the connection MUST have the ip address of 192.168.0.1 or windows xp will give you trouble.

Ok, right click the wireless connection, and choose View available wireless networks.

    Does it show your SSID?

    Try to connect if so.

Do you know much about changing channels on the router?

I can kind of guide you, but if you aren't familiar with this, it may not be the best idea.

Unless you are game, of course :)

    Ok.

Open up your router config (on wife's computer).

Open IE, put 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.

    Admin is default password.

    No username.

    Click ok

On the first tab, you will see the channel settings at the bottom.

What channel is it currently on?

No, this doesn't look to be a virus as of yet.

Yes, you could lose access to the only computer you have online. Thats why I am just asking for info first :)

But I've noticed that you have an ethernet card too, so I am assuming you can hook that to the router and revert the settings.

    Correct?

Should this be 192.168.0.1 for the router?
    Or am I confused -AGAIN.

Does your MB have Firewire? Reinstalling or updating Firewire (MB) drivers can make Win XP think Firewire is your network.

    Linksys uses 192.168.1.1 by default.

Dlin k uses 192.168.0.1 by default.

Its whatever your default gateway is. The above post had no D.G., so I am guessing that the ethernet card is static.

IEEE 1394 is a legit network device for XP. It will always show up in Network Connections, because it can be used as such :)
