Virus?

Hey i have a problem, with which i think is a virus, but im not too sure. It could be some spyware that's being gay. What happens is when i try going to www.symantec.com, it redirects me to my localhost. And that's the only problem that has come up. I tried searching for the Trojan.qhost, but it's not on my computer. Someone please help if you can. Thanks i appreciate it.

Im not sure if this helps, but i have a hp pavilion 2 GHz athlon processor, with a 80 gig hardrive and 512 ram.

 

It also disables the auto-protect program in norton. And when i search for the "virus" it doesn't come up on norton. (figures)

 

Yes, there are several virii which attack & corrupt Norton directly, which has happened to you by the sounds of it. My advice is to download AVG or Avast & run a full scan. They should find whatever's causing your problems. Once that's completed, keep the free AV program & uninstall Norton. It's a resource hog & your computer should run faster after it's gone.

 

I'm about to download avast because avg wants me to register to them and i can't find out a way to get to their website because this so called virus isn't letting me get to avg's website, but thank you for your help
