    Hello,
I am creating a new thread to check this computer if it has that nasty virus. When I was working on fixing the other computer that has the Virut virus I had antivirus software installed (Rising Antivirus) however I removed it to run the Read and Run Me First. Rising ANtivirus stops all the .exe (Combo, MGtools) programs from working and I can find no way to disable Rising to allow the programs to run so I removed it (not the best idea on my part). Since I was switching the thumb drive from infected computer to this laptop I just wanted to make sure I do not have the Virut virus. Attached are the Mgtools logs.

Thank you very much for your time and help

    Monika

"We really don't like having logs from multiple computers posted in one thread as it tends to make the thread hard to follow and to separate one computer from another.

But the logs you posted are the least important. MGlogs.zip from MGtools would be the most useful to see if files have been getting changed by Virut. Also you need to run a full scan with your own antivirus program to see if it reports anything, but it appears you don't even have one installed which is extremely dangerous especially in light of having a Virut infection on another PC."

Based on this log and the logs in your other thread, this second computer does not appear to have the Virut infection. At least not yet. ;)

What do you mean not yet, could it be lurking or just my bad habits?

I really do appreciate all the work you have done for me.
    Thanks a million

Infections like this may not immediately show themselves in a form that we can see them in the logs. Sometimes they are sitting somewhat dormant until you access or run a particular infected file ( that is if there are any ). This is why you need to run full scans with a good antivirus program too since it can check more files. Also it would not hurt to run an online scanner too after you have run your normal antivirus program.

I would say that base on your logs, there is a good chance you are okay. And if you are not having any problems on this computer, it is even more likely this one is okay. Running the additional antivirus scans would be well worth the effort though to catch anything that could be hiding before it can do any damage.
