vist and back

i installed windows vista ultimate on my laptop and i want to get rid of it I've tried using my XP CD which doesn't work and i tried using my system restore CD that came with my laptop but it says it cant recognize my OP system so what can i do to fix this problem? can i format the hard drive and use the disk from there or what? Please help...!

ok so if i format my hard drive how to i redo it jsut put in the restore cd that came with it and it will boot off of that or what? ive never reformated a computer before so i need some help with it...so i dont mess up my laptop i have everythign i need backed up on my flash drive so i dont care about loseing my saved stuff on my laptop....

 

put the xp in it, make sure your boot order is set cd boot first in the bios,then you can go from there.

If you want to install Windows XP, be sure you can get Windows XP drivers for that PC before you install it or you'll be plagued with trying to track down drivers from all over the place if they even exist. Many folks have wiped their Vista, installed XP, then decided to look for XP drivers only realize that XP drivers didn't exist for one or more devices on the PC, and they ended up having to install Vista again. So do some research first. If you have a Vista recovery disc from the PC manufacturer, after formatting, it should work fine. It should work fine before formatting, and should provide the option to format, but I'm too tired to explain the whole process at this particular time (same thing for the XP disc).
