Vista Administrator Account Misconfiguration

Hello. I am new to this forumn and decided to join for help. I recently had a new hard drive installed on my laptop and the computer shop pre-installed various lenovo software along with a generic "lenevo" administrator account to perform the installation.

When I changed my administrator account name to "Nickolas Magos" which is my name, I noticed that in the control panel everything is ok, as well as in my documents, BUT in My Computer under users it still says "lenevo" and NOT "Nickolas Magos". The computer seems to work ok other than lots of hard disk noise(read, write) BUT when using Free Download Manager and I try to download programs/videos it recognises "lenevo" under save as pop-up window.

I did try the windows error check utility but the problem still persists. I am at a loss what to do next. I also downloaded Reprofiler and when I try to run the program the computer stalls/hangs. Should this be done in safe mode?

I wish to get this resolved without formatting my disk if possilble. Thanks!!

 

Do you mean C:\Users\lenevo? When you change the account name, the old user name will remain under C:\Users.

You'd have been better off leaving the lenevo account and creating a new account with the desired name. Then migrate anything you want from the lenevo account to the new account and then delete the lenevo account.

 

Yes in My Computer it is still "C:\Users\lenevo" after renaming the administrator account to "Nickolas Magos" in the control panel under user accounts.

I don't understand why such a simple thing causes all these complications. I have waited about a month hoping that the system would pick up on the change and reconfigure everything automatically....but so far no!
