Vista Aero still gets a bad rap...

This is "sort of" a cross posting from another forum, but I feel it should be said here.

People are constantly complaining that Aero's cpu usage is a real problem in Vista.

Now, I don't have a super machine, its a lowly laptop with a T7500 cpu and 2gb ram.

Observe these screenshots. Even when dragging windows, usage didn't move more than 15-20%. For a grand total of ~25-30%. However, seeing how I have a dual core machine, thats no big deal, because not both cores are running at that same usage. I noticed no sluggishness whatsoever.

Sorry, I never have any problems with Vista or Aero, so nothing to discuss...

The only ones I see bashing Vista anymore, are the ones who haven't given it any real trial.
aka; the ones that immediately reverted their systems back to XP the day they bought them.
After a year, I have had no problems with any parts of it, that was strictly Vista's fault.
Matter of fact, I just recently bought a P4 for a test platform, installed XP Pro, and am wondering how I ever dealt with such an archaic OS.

Meh, they're probably the same nitpickers who complain about vista's extremely bad memory management, 'What, my memory is still @% 50 with nothing running'!? rolleyes I never had aero problems even with a single cored venice and 1GB. I basically ignore these folks, no point in wasting electrons on them.

Yes noticed CPU spikes for a bit when you wiggle windows around the screen, mine hits 25% or so then the CPU thinks, what the hell is this loon doing that for!

Which is no different to starting any application, for me starting Task Manager the CPU spikes to 58%, starting MS Word spikes the CPU to 65% then settles all part and parcel of computer usage.

Moving mouse will have cpu climb from normal idle %s and that is not tied to runing Aero or not.

This is a screenshot with the high spike is me opening Task Manager 68% this time, then just typing this up, so CPU is not needing to do much, but its near 1-3% at max so just because I have Aero on, its not affecting CPU usage, ram maybe but not CPU usage over and above any normal fluctuation you'd get anyway.

    Unused ram is wasted ram!

Yes Vista'memory usage is more aggressive than that of XPs but that is by design and possible that Win7 will also continue this trend, if its available use nearly all of it until a user run task starts and that system used ram is handed back. I watched it one day from boot and for 15mins its up and down like a fiddlers elbow, but still doesnt slow my usage down, C2D E6700 2GB ram, about right for what I need at present. Aero on as I like bling... did so with XPs crayola look also.
