Tried a search and found no luck on this issue so I must post it. Sure hope someone might have a clue as to what is going on.

A friend gave me the RC1 version of Vista DVD. So I figured what the heck I got time on my hands I will poke around and see what it looks like. So I partitioned my drive and went through the install process. If anyone has done a clean install you know how it goes. The DVD expands the files, they are installed, updates are performed and then your system reboots.

Well on the reboot I got as far as the original process screen that shows those categories that I just mentioned as well as the process "Completing Installation". Well after it runs for about 3 min during the completing installation phase my computer will shut off. It has done this 4 times during four different re installations. When it shuts off I go into the hardware monitor portion of the bios and it says my CPU is at about 55 degrees Celsius. That is fairly warm but I can understand that during the loading and preperation for Windows being installed.

Not sure what to do. I basically gave up trying to install it. It is a older less stable version anyway. Still it would have been nice to have it.

    Welcome to ideas or suggestions.:confused

Doesnt sound like overheating to me. Are you sure your PSU isn't having issues?

How about a UPS? XP had a known issue that if you had a UPS hooked up via USB during installation, it could shut off the machine. I can imagine Vista probably has the same possible problem.

Also..its is not the final version of Vista...expect more bugs. I don't think you are actually supposed to be running it; it will not activate, as it has expired. It may not even install, but I cannot confirm that.

Great, I will note that Vista RC1 and others are no longer valid installs. Thanks.
