Compaq V6000 laptop has lost wireless adapter and can no longer connect to home network.

    Laptop Specs
Compaq V6404 Laptop with Broadcom intergrated wireless lan on board.
    Vista Business Premium SP1

Network is a D-Link 320 Wireless lan with SSID broadcast and running standard WPA security.

PRoblem is that up until last week the laptop had intermittent connection failures which I had put down to the other toys - PS3, boys Nintendo's, and 2.4G phones in the house. However four days ago the laptop just popped it's wireless clogs are refused to display any network devices. When i started to look at the networks I found that there were no longer any network adapters being displayed. I looked at the DigiHPpaq un-support website which gave me the usual how to set up a wireless network blah.
I installed the latest BIOS on the laptop and installed new Broadcom wireless drivers. With no luck. My next options are to
    1. Run a System Restore.
    2. Take laptop on my next dive.
    3. Buy a mac.
    Can anyone please help
