Hi i am new here and have reached the end of my tether excuse the pun, for about 2 months no i have been tethering my nokia 5600 xm throught my pc running xp home sp3 with no real problems (the dl speed is low but thats another matter) recently i updated to vista ultimate and since then ive been having a wierd problem where the connection will drop out completely and me browser will say cannot open site etc. but one touch access (the program for connecting through the nokia) says i am still connected and i have to disconnect and reconnect, only 5-10 minutes later the same thing will happen, i can only assume this to be a fault with vista as my os is the only thing i have changed and up until then i was using my phone to play world of warcraft and to download games from steam (thank you all you can eat data from 3 ;)) nokia customer services are useless and microsoft, well... if anyone can help me i will love you forever!! Thanks in advance, Ryan.

    Hi

I'm a bit or way out of touch with Nokia phones of late unless they are the Lumia variants, but one thing I would check is that is your Nokia OVI or Nokia Suite is fully the latest version.

Hi Sorry they are both the same thing, just some locations call them different names.

I have one option you could try and this may rule out Windows or the USB driver as the issue, is to open up device manager and then the Universal Serial Bus Controllers branch then plug in your Phone and notice the new addition to the list, this will be the driver for the phone, then right click and uninstall it, then reboot and plug the phone back in and the driver should load again.

if the driver doesnt load as it should re-install the Nokia suite.

thanks i did already try that but the problem seems to have resolved itself somewhat as the connection hasn't dropped out at all for a while to be fair i think i was asking a lot of a 3.5g connection it just seemed so bizzare that i had no problem until i installed vista as i say i downloaded the entire world of warcraft client and played quite a bit through it on xp.

Glad its resolved itself and yes weird that the issue happened at all, I know my HSDPA connection on mobile internet has depending on location and it seems orientation of the moon a patchy speed!

But glad your back to reletive normal now, cheers for the update.
