Vista and XP dual boot. HELP!

I am trying to dualboot between Vista / Windows 7 / XP

I have all 3 of them installed. I did

bootrec.exe /fixMBR
bootrec.exe /fixBoot

In the vista repair environment so now I can boot between Vista and Windows 7 again.

Right now I am in vista and I can't boot to XP. For me to be able to boot to xp I must enter these commands into cmd.exe while it is in administrator mode.

bcdedit -set {ntldr} device partition=C:
bcdedit -set {ntldr} path \ntldr
bcdedit -displayorder {ntldr} -addlast
bcdedit -set {ntldr} description "Microsoft Windows XP"

I did enter those commands, but this is what happens.

There is no option to boot to XP, Only Vista and 7.

What am I doing wrong???

 

You have to find ntldr , boot.ini and NTDETECT which may have been erased by Vista or W7 and copy them to your C:\ I believe you're the first regular person I've seen to tackle the BCD command line which I've always hated.

Try Vista Boot Pro which is a front-end GUI for BCD editing. It'll quickly show you the status of your system and some options to reinstal a boot if possible.

I'll assume you loaded XP after Vista or W7?

 

Windows Vista-Windows 7-Windows XP

In that order.

I'll try VistaBootPro... don't feel like hunting down those 3 files...

 

This is the method here and you have to hunt them files down.
