Vista Basic & WMP

Got Vista Basic and have been running DVDs via Windows Media Player just fine. Yesterday though it will onlt play in a very jumpy fashion i.e. as though it's only showing every tenth frame or so - it effects the sound in a similar way. I haven't installed anything recently to cause this. Any ideas?

Also, can someone point me to a download for WMP for Vista. I can only find ME, XP, etc versions, not Vista.

It may be a problem with the installation.

Thanks for the info - however I may just be being thick (not beyond the realms of possibility) but the URL you gave directed me to a plugin (for Vista?) and not for a total reinstall. I installed the plug in but the problem remains. Just a thought, I'm running Firefox as a browser - could this be a contributing factor? Is there a complete download for WMP for Vista or is there another problem at work here?
