Vista blue screen of death

I seem to be receiving the blue screen at random times, even when I am not at the computer.

I am currently running mem test with no errors as of yet.

Any recommendations on diagnosing this?

Got a mem test error.

pair 75525128 does not store values accurately, computer cannot accurately store data in RAM.

Would I just need to replace the RAM for this problem?

 

Random BSoDs are almost always the result of faulty RAM. If you have the patience though, you can find out more by installing the Debug Tools for Windows. These enable you to interpret the dump files created when you get a BSoD.

Do you think it is necessary in this case to investigate further or does it look pretty cut and dry?

 

When I clicked OK on the one error it gave me a series of 755 memory errors. I took my memory out but nowhere on it can I find these numbers, any way to tell which set is failing? Or could it be the processor or something?

 

The only way to be sure is to remove one bank and run the test for several hours, preferably overnight. Then repeat as necessary. When this happened to me I binned both banks and started afresh. No more BSoDs.

 

memory is cheap enough, could it be the slots themselves though? I am trying to isolate if it is the slots or the modules.

I have 2 memory slots, does it matter which one is used when I only have one in?

Does memory have a 3 year warranty as far as you know?

 

Each RAM vendor is different ... Kingston claims to have a "Lifetime Warranty".

It MAY be the slots, but it is highly unlikely ... (I say that although it's very Ironic as one of the four slots on my board is buggered :-D)
