Vista booting error

I installed the Windows Service Pack (2 I think) just now on my Computer (Vista OS). I restarted as it told me to but it comes up with "No bootable partition in table" about 5 seconds into the restart.
I turned it off and on again and pressed F8 (Boot order) and chose the device "RAID:DSK00 WDC WD6400AAKS-00A7B" which worked perfectly.
Restarted again thinking it was a one-time error but it happened again.

It's easy enough to choose a different boot device but is there anyway which allows me to not have to do this every time I turn my computer on?

    Joel.

    Hi

This time enter your BIOS (dont know the exact key as would need to know PC model and make, or motherboard model and make) should tell you the key/s press at start of boot, majority of the time, its DEL, ESC, F2 etc

Then in the Boot order section set your 1st boot device to that HDD listed, then F10 to save and exit in the BIOS, this should hold the saved setting.

Are you actually using a RAID array on this PC? if so may also in the BIOS need to set if available (BIOSes are different per maker) to set the SATA Storage Config to RAID, then reset the 1st Boot device.

Right thanks I'll try that now.

About the RAID array; I have no clue :x

    ------------

I got into the BIOS fine but with the Boot order section, it only had 3 options to choose from (The RAID one was not on there): RAID:DSK01 HI-DT-ST DVDRAM GH40, USB Generic Compact and USB Flash memory.

I chose the RAID one as it was most similar the the one that did work but I still got the bootable partition error.
My computer is a Packard Bell IEXTREME X6618 UK.
