Vista Codec Package Help Needed

I have been slogging through steps to get my laptop DVD player working. It has a host of codec stuff installed. The problem is, I don't know much about codecs as per a previous post. It was recommended that I install this codec:http://www.majorgeeks.com/Vista_Codec_Package_d5326.html.

Now I have no idea which codec relates specifically to the program. So, my question is can I delete all current codecs and install the Vista Codec package? The program states it is an "all in one" program.

I am running Xp Media Edition patched to the fullest. Here are the current codecs running after installing Vista Codec:

ummmm............If I were you, I'd install KLite codec pack. Go with the full or standard. Then just install it. It'll take care of the rest.

 

Hi, I am the developer of the Vista Codec Package. This package is 100% WindowsXP compatible.

Using the Add/Remove programs feature of Windows XP, uninstall ALL codecs including the Vista Codec Package. Look at everything listed, be sure to get them all. Remove QuickTime, Real, Klite, Haali, Gabest, XviD, DivX, FFDshow (to name a few)

Reboot your computer and then install the latest release of VCP. Version 4.4.3 was released just moments ago.
