I installed ERUNT yesterday, and didnt reboot until today. When I reboot, the attached error messages showed up. How do I fix this? Thanks.

MG says Size: 773 KB License: Freeware Requires: Win All

BUT the body of the text at http://www.majorgeeks.com/download1267.html
    says
Use at your own risk, I would say until this discrepancy is cleared up.

Ok... so what's a good Registry backup solution for Vista then (free)?

Check out the Registry programs listed at

I don't use my Vista SP1 that often. I much prefer XP Pro SP3.

    Hi

Right click run as admin ERUNT as it worked this way for me in Vista pre SP1, as registry apps in Vista generally need full admin rights

You would think years after Vista's release, software would be compatible.

Thanks for the link, Bazza. However, for now, I tried selecting the Run as Administrator option in the Compatibility tab of ERUNT's executable properties. I was able to manually make a backup after that... I have yet to see if the automatic backup on boot will work doing that.

    Great minds think alike. ;)

One question, though. Is there a way to bypass UAC so it does not prompt me when ERUNT does its auto backup on boot?

I have been running it on Vista SP1 but with UAC turned off. :-D
I'd forgotten I'd loaded it as I don't use Vista that often.

Yes and no need to run with UAC off as mentioned, but you loose that level of security but thats the users prerogative, however the yes part is try this Elevator (SkipUAC) from Martin Zugec ( Turning off UAC is not advisable for all unless you know what your doing and the concequesnces of bypassing UAC for any application as we all know some can be rouge apps )

What you do is to copy the SkipUAC folder to C: drive or doesnt matter if its on another, then right click the application and choose properties, then in the target box change the syntax to read "C:\SkipUAC\ElevatorRunner.exe "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\ccleaner.exe" as an example and it will run without UAC interfearing, will need to untick unknown application popup you get first time you run this. *DO have to warn that this is unsafe practice and only do this IF you truely trust an application as the option to do any of this to bypass UAC is your own*

or and the one likely to be what your after is use his other method of adding the highest privelidge running to an task scheduled process as if ERUNT is not already in Task Schedulers list of apps then add it, but as it runs on boot its likely to be, so to find and change that option to run in high privelidge mode I posted here with the route to do this for another app so just change Clearmem to ERUNT.

Don't forget that ERUNT automatically makes a Registry backup daily (doh) AND stores it in C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT\AutoBackup in both XP and Vista

If you don't delete them regularly, they just grow in number. I only keep the last 2 as, IMO, it is not worth keeping more as the Registry may undergo many changes, from day to day, depending on your usage.

Just set up a Shortcut, or MagicWord, to C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT\AutoBackup
to see how many Registry backups are there. :-D and delete the older ones.

    Hope this helps.
