I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite P305-S8904 Notebook that came with Vista home premium 64 bit installed on it,however I want to downgrade it to XP Pro full version 32 bit with service pack 2 that I have ,I tried putting my XP disc in the dvd dr after I had already activated Vista but because it's a downgrade it wouldn't install ,so what do I need to do to put XP on it ,do I need to wipe the drive and if so what do I use to do that, also wondering if I'll need any Toshiba drivers for the notebooks functions like sound, etc or will my XP disc have the drivers I need for that on it ? I'm not a expert with computers but I would classify myself as an average user in my computer knowledge and ability.
thanks for any help in advance

Intel GMA 4500MHD, your graphics card doesn't have drivers available for XP from Windows or Intel, you will have to find another solution for that, possibly ATI or Nvidia. Windows 7 is right around the corner, you could try the BETA, I believe it is still availaible for download as its availability was extended until sometime this month. It is good until August of this year, and release should follow within six months. Have had minimal problems with 7 on a Gateway built for XP. The onboard graphics don't support Aero, but something I would probably forgo in the end even if they did. Am curious as to why you want to ditch Vista, If it is because it is a resource hog you could check out which services to disable through blackviper.com, or turn Aero off. I believe your system has 4 gigs of memory though, and it can be upgraded to 8. When you tried to downgrade you deleted the Vista partition, and then chose to install XP on that partition? Were there any other partitions listed? What size were they? Hope you get it sorted out to your satisfaction. I usually use Linux as a last resort to troubleshoot Windows problems, and was dualbooting it with XP on this machine until I installed 7.

Actually when I placed the XP disc in it just showed the intro screen where it asks what you want to do and when I clicked on install XP a message came up saying it couldn't install XP since it was a download and didn't go any further then that so I just ejected the disc ,as for why I don't want Vista I like XP and I'm
comfortable and familiar with it's quirks and have it set up how I want it and I don't want to have to learn a new system right now.
