Yesterday I received my new computer tower from Dell,in which came with Windows vista basic. I've heard stories about people having issues with Vista, that it still has some bugs that need to be worked out and windows crashing. I've had my tower for one day now and 3 times already my windows has crashed on me,where out of the blue my screen goes all black for the most part, where I have to restart the computer everything.

That the computer came with vista already installed,is there a way I can get Windows XP back w/o having any issues. thanks for any help

    Without having any issues?

Unless there are XP drivers available for your hardware--plus the added expense of buying XP...those would be my issues of concern.

Changing OSes is not the ideal nor efficient way to troubleshoot a problem though...Vista IS the future, love it or hate it.

If you rather, describe your problems in more detail, and what errors you may be seeing, so that we can properly troubleshoot?

my errors thus far, like I said this has happened 3 times, where one time when I was just typing in a web address on IE, then another time all I did was clicked on the start menu then clicked on the computer icon where list the c-drive and so on. when I said the screen goes black..i'm still able to move my mouse around so there isn't a freeze here, while I move my mouse around it still shows some of the icons from my windows, other than that its completely black where I don't have a choice but shut it off incorrectly and start up the computer again.

Try these. Uninstall the old version first, and I am fairly certain you need the 32 bit version. The latest Nvidia drivers are garbage.

OK i'll look into that. little bit more description here when the screen goes black. where say if I had any programs/files minimized to the bottom of the screen, when this black screen appears, everything that was minimized on the bottom is shown on the top of screen which is pretty weird. instead of shutting the computer off incorrectly that I have been doing to restart,I hit ctl,alt and delete where it takes me to another screen where it shows options like lock computer, switch users, log out... so i'll click on log out and it'll take me to the screen again where I type in my password to enter windows, after I do that it'll start up windows agian just fine w/o any problems.
