I have a person's laptop, Vista, and need to copy all personal files from the laptop SATA to a different location in case of failure.

When I go to open Documents and Settings on the C:, folder is hidden also, I get an error message stating '<drive>:/Documents and Settings it is not accessible Access is Denied'.

I need to save all the files for the user profile.

    tia and thanks for reading,

Documents and Settings is an XP folder and does not exist in Vista. The comp either dual boots with XP with shared data folders or, more likely, was upgraded from XP to Vista. Documents and Settings' isn't actually a folder at all, it's what is called a symbolic link and it is not accessible by users. Anyway, Vista's Documents folder is in \Users\Username\Documents.

Guess it's a good thing since when I tool tip over the Document and Settings folder it shows the 'folder is empty', I was originally thrown by this, will be looking for the Documents in the path shown above in the morning.
