I think someone tried to log in to my Vista laptop this morning.

Does anyone know where to go on Vista to see a log file of attempted log ins?

    Hi

Sadly you cannot afaik unless you have in administrative policy set the logon option to doisplay previous logon attempts info.

gpedit.msc and this location Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Logon Options

but cannot retrospectively set this to display info after the fact.

You could try looking in the Event Logs and specifically the Windows Logs > Security logs for dates and time of login (which are near as damm it a log of login attempts as they are for sucessful logon to services on the PC) so could hold clues as to if your PC was sucessfully logged in to.

What makes you think someone tried to login, was this physically or remotely?
