I don't know if anyone can help but i am hoping so..

I have bought a new laptop with vista on it,i did not really want vista i wanted XP but bought it anyway and i bought Microsoft word 2007 seperately as vista, (unlike XP) does not come with Microsoft word.

I use Microsoft word a great deal and have lots of documents saved which are really important, the trouble is old word docs open in new word but new word doc don't open in old word.
This is causing havoc when i am sending word documents electronically.

Plus, new Microsoft word may well be fancy but i do not like it and find old word more user friendly.

I rang Microsoft and they said i can pay for Microsoft word 2003 but to be frank i have paid for this laptop plus i had to buy an entire office suite (£80)in order to have Microsoft word 2007 and i am now stony broke.

Is there a free download of Microsoft word 2003? and can i still keep Microsoft word 2007 on my laptop as well or will it conflict or will word 2003 replace word 2007 if i put it on my laptop as well?

    Thankyou
    Lisa

Also when saving documents with Office Word 2007 choose Save As and you have the option of saving documents in Word 97-2003 format, this is a one shot thing per file.

But you can tailor Word and how its defaultly saves all the word docs, to the .doc format over the new .docx format, click the Office Button ( the MS globe thingy in Word ) then choose Word Options > SAVE > then next to save files in this format, choose Word 97-2003 Document ( *.doc ) then click OK, then each time you save a doc with Word 2007 it will be in .doc format.

You can do similar in Excel, Access ( access is in a slightly different location in the options menu )
