Vista networking problems

    Hey, I have just bought a computer with Vista pre-installed, and i am having trouble getting the internet to function properly. Using the "Connect to" function i can't find my broadband connection. however, i can connect through just a normal local network connection, but this resets to only local every time i put the computer to sleep, and i have to diagnose the problem and reset the local network adapter. Does anyone know a solution? Cheers.
