confused (1) Would like to know when you delete an item file etc to bin and then you have the option to permanently delete, does this work as good as using a product like East-tec eraser etc ? (2) Could anyone recommend a free Registry Cleaner for Vista ? Thanks Roseman in Oz :wave

    1. Not really no as those files could be recovered, whereas applications such as East-Tec Eraser will use random multi wipeing techniques to scramble the deleted data, The Windows Recycler will just mark the deleted datas headers as avaiable to write on,

Also CCLeaner will allow you to not only clean the registry and all the associsated temp and internet files, but in its Options > Settings menu it allows you to set a multi pass secure erasing option, this does similar job as East-Tec Eraser, so when you run the cleaner and have Recycle Bin checked to clear its contents it will sercurely erase the contents ( note it may take a while if you have it on 3 or 7 passes )
