Vista + Sigmatel = Disaster

I don't know what to do anymore. I'm not the most tech savvy person out there, but I understand updating drivers and so forth. Recently my computer just stopped recognizing its microphone, so I went to update my SigmaTel driver. Now I have no sound at all, and it seems to think there is no audio device installed. I understand this is a common problem with Vista users, and a solution is to download the XP drivers. However, I would not even know where to begin looking for drivers suitable for my machine.
I've attached the report of my system gained through Everest. Tell me if I'm not explaining my problem well enough. I'm frustrated to the point of tears and really need my sound back in order to participate in my online gaming.

You should reinstall your chipset first:
Intel Chipset Driver
And this is the audio driver listed for your PC:
Sigmatel HD Audio Driver
