Vista SP1 Install problem

    I recently decided to upgrade my windows vista to service pack one, HUGE mistake.
    Started off installing as i expected, but after restarting a couple of times it got to 'stage 3 of 3'. This stage fets to 100% then restarts my pc, btu once it has started up again it installs stage 3 to 100% and then restarts, its now done this dozens upon dozens of times.
    I've tried safe mode, restore to last known working configuration, and putting in the vista disc for repair. All take me back to stage 3. Except the vista disc which does nothing at all.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
