    Greetings Geeks -

It seem my computer does not know what time it is anymore. Ever so often the time gets reset. I have not formally kept track, but I think it resets at 12:00 based on my not so scientific approach to keeping track of it.

I have tried a few different internet time servers from the calendar/clock setup. No luck. I thought it might be the motherboard battery, but it does not do it all of the time. I did buy a new battery, but I have yet to try it. Would a dead batter reset the BIOS as well.? I don't think that has been happening - but I have yet to investigate that yet.

So, before I take more drastic measures, like replacing the battery, investigating the BIOS, etc., does anyone have any other suggestions?

The motherboard in question is an Asus M2V-MX SE. Vista is 32 bit, patched.

    Thanks for any help.

Just put in the new button battery. You do have a brief bit of time (I don't know exactly how long) that the settings remain.

If you are concerned, go through each screen of the BIOS and write down the settings. I suspect, however, if your clock keeps resetting to 12:00 then the settings are the one used when the computer was manufactured.
