Vista will not allow any updates

Hi,

Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium SP1, Symantec Endpoint Protection(required by University of Missouri-Columbia), Windows Firewall enabled.

Will not allow any programs to access updates including SAS, MBAM and Windows Updates.

Internet connection is good, Windows Firewall is set to allow these programs to update....please help.

You're not using the Symantec FW right? Have you tried to disable Vista FW for a bit and run updates? :wave

This sounds malware related. Below the guide from Majorgeeks. You'll probably have difficulties following it so there's also a link for Norman's little cleaner. It can quite often make way for more thorough tools. It runs best in safe mode.

To add another tool to Cordialis' post ---

McAfee AVERT Stinger Conficker 10.0.1.534

After running it and having it fix anything it finds, reboot and see how things work.... then - well--- you know the drill.
