vista womt update

hi all i could really do with some help i have recently removed all malware with a lot of help from this forum, even though i think it may have had this problem for a while it will not update i have listed below some of the updates that have failed can someone please help me.
its running windows vista home service pack 1 intel core 2cpu t5300 @ 1.73GHz 4.00 GB ram 32-bit operating system and its a gateway laptop

ok i will try that i think it hasnt been updating for ages thanks i will get back when i have done it

 

No that didn't work I ran it in advanced mode but after it downloaded update it failed to install it

 

The auto update worked but they won't install they keep failing

 

So I run the same program in safe mode. I only have a backup disc from when it was new not a proper vista disc is that one ok

 

Sorry I don't understand one at a time as in one reg fix at a time so tick one box let it run and then tick another so where does the vista disc come in

 

Or by install disc do you mean put the reg fix on to cd and run in safe mode from disc sorry if I am being stupid

hi i have opened safe mode and tryed to update from there but the update page wont open.
Did you want me to run the tweaking reg Windows Repair program again in safe mode.

also i have tryed tonight
1, the micosoft fix it as other post
2, the micosoft readyness tool
3, i tryed to download micosofts standalone installer KB942288 4.5 which looked promiseing it installed but didnt solve the problem
4,stopping windows firewall


i hadnt told you the error code i got is 800B0100

Yes I understand one bit ie the one with the four links but the one about extracting the files I think will be hard for me I didn't really understand that bit it looked a bit hard and also I dont have another machine with vista on thank god

Do I need to get the files from Microsoft KB963027 file or the kb one there on about

 

Thanks for your help but I ended up killing the hard drive and all the windows files buying a new hard drive and reinstalling it from disc and now it looks like its updating.i don't know how I managed to make the hard drive fail as it didn't show any real problems before apart from the update problem.
