Ok, so I've had vista x86 for a while, and just recently installed vista x64. I have 3 hard drives, 2 sata's and one IDE. It was just installed last night, so I am not 100% sure it is my soundcard, but here I go..

I have an x-fi platinum sound card, and when I tried installing the drivers in vista, it said hardware not recognized (I tried re-seating the sound card, etc.) I booted into safe mode, and it recognized the hardware, and I installed the drivers. Now it won't boot into standard vista...? Any thoughts. It also takes a long time to shut down (like 5-10 minutes...) And when I was downloading the updates, it would configure updates upon shutdown for like 40 minutes.

    My system is:

AMD x2 4200+ (I had it oc'ed to 2.6, but brought it back to stock to make sure it wasnt an issue)
    3GB DDR 400
    Nvidia 8800GT
    Asus A8N5X Nforce4
    X-fi platinum

Thanks in advance for any help.
