Hi everyone. I'm looking to teach myself VB 2008 but can't seem to find it. All I can find is the express edition. The book I'm probably going to buy to learn VB was talking about how integrated VB 2008 and Studio 2008 are now, so I'm wondering if they're the same program? Another words, if I get Visual Studio 2008 (which I think I can get for free from my school), will Visual Basic 2008 be included in that? I'm very confused with this, especially because I can't find anywhere to buy VB 2008. Sorry for such the stupid question, but I would appreciate it if anyone could give me some insight on this. Thanks.

The Express Edition is a great start for people that want to learn VB. Eventually, you will want to purchase the full version but starting off with free stuff would be the best for you.

However, if your school as Visual Studio 2008 or 2010, then you would be set up with a few other programming languages. If that is what you do, I would suggest C# to learn since VB is older and really built for business programming. If you plan to program games or Microsoft's new OS, then you will need to learn C#.

I program in C# 2005 and 2008. My language that I was programming before was VB and I am glad that I switched.

    Hope that answers your questions.
