    Hi Lori,

You may have to tell us this also, "it keeps telling me the time for something has been set".

What exactly is it saying and what kind of message or error box is showing up? Anytime I see the ~ sign in a file name and can't really locate much I think spyware.

So, if you have anymore info let us know.

it's happening to my mom's computer and i haven't seen the actual error. she wrote down the file path but couldn't remember the exact wording of the message. but from what she said, it was something about iexplore.exe terminating at an unexpected time, so it has to do with IE, but i'm not sure what.

Don't want to tell you / her to try much without knowing the exact message. Try and get that if possible.

1.Ask her if this is part of the message. This application has requested the Runtime to abort it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

    2. Is her Internet Explorer working?

    3. Does she have the Google Toolbar installed?

I don't know about Lori, but that's what's happening to me! And I do have the Google Toolbar installed. I've had it installed for a long time though and this error started occurring about two months ago. I haven't been able to find any information on it and not one person replied when I posted in the Viruses forum.

I can no longer run Explorer. I can't double-click a folder on my desktop, use Search, or open Control Panel; they all generate the same error. However, I can open a folder/Control Panel using right-click/Explore; then I can double-click a folder inside! Very strange.

So do you know what's wrong? Is it actually the toolbar? I use that all the time!

    Thanks for any help,
    Kathy

Oh, and by the way, under my husband's user account (WinXP) everything works fine and he also has the google toolbar.

OK, while waiting I searched the net for "Explorer unusual Google" and found the answer...

I uninstalled the Google toolbar and now everything is back to normal.. Yea!
Now, can I re-install it with the latest download and still be OK?

Mostly I use Firefox and the Google toolbar is still there, so maybe I don't need to re-install, but my husband might miss it on Explorer.

You should be able to reinstall the Google Toolbar and be OK. If not, you know what the problem is.

Steve, I'll give it a shot!

Thanks for pointing me the way! It's been driving me nuts!

    PS: Good luck Lori!
