Okay, long story. Built a new computer for someone, who was using microsoft outlook.. copied outlook.pst and archive.pst to an external device. Cloned the hard drive and put new drive in the new computer. Got the thing to boot, did all the updates and it works great. Now im trying to get her email contacts and messages back...but outlook express 6, will not import the pst files i made copies of.... Is there some kind of converter? She really needs her email and i feel like an ***. Apparently I should of went file, export, and made a csv through outlook.. I can not boot the old drive in the old computer because the old PC it is gone, i still have the drive but can not get it to boot properly, with new cpu it just bsod and reboots. Safe mode will not allow to boot because it says "your copy of windows needs to be validated and can not continue in safe mode" and then logs me out. So i need a way either to bypass the stupid windows validation message or some way to convert outlooks pst files into a outlook express file. Please please someone help. I #*$#&*# hate HATE this outlook crap.

*EDIT* - OR can i just somehow install microsoft outlook back on the new workstation?? I know nothing about this bullcrap.

I haven't used Outlook Express for about 5 yrs and have never used Outlook, but I did a search and found this which I hope will be helpful. It's a way to convert the pst files for use in Outlook Express. Hope it works. Before you attempt this I suggest you make sure you have backed up all the files you're going to convert in case something goes haywire.

How many pst files do you need to convert? I ask because it sounds as though this method requires that you convert one pst file at a time.

    Hope this helps. Good luck!

If you cloned the old drive to the new one then Outlook should still be there on the Start menu, or in Program Files, no? If it's not there, or won't run, then you will need to reinstall Office. Doesn't the owner still have the Office installation disk? If not you may have to resort to the torrents in order to be able to set up Outlook temporarily so you can then export a csv file. Advisable to check which version of Outlook they were using as there was a sea change when 2007 came in.

Also found THIS. Haven't downloaded or tried it so it's entirely at your own risk.
