vlc help

I go ingo VLC preferance tab and go into file ***. and select all media types.

But my win media player trys to open still.

How do I disable win media player?

 

you didnt state your OS but start>control panel>default programs

 

I have win7. and I whent into controle pannel and Programs then turn on and off win programs.

I then uncheck win media center and everything under it and in it.

And win media player is unchecked and all media.

Then I go into vlc and set asso. file types. I put a chech in everything.

Is this ok?

 

I think the best way for windows 7 is control panel>default programs>set your default programs. You can then set default programs for all categories.
DONT go to programs, go to default programs. Set control panel to large or small icons and not category next to "view by" toward the top on the right on the control panel home page.

 

Thank you I did go into controle pannel and whent to Default Programs.
Then in the list of programs on the left I clicked on VLC then on the bottum right I clicked Set Program as Default.

Then I clicked OK so does this meen it will play all video and audio?

 

Thanks it works but I do have one thing if you can help?
When I put my mp3 files into a playlist and save it and go back everything is out of the order I put it in.

But I can make a playlkist with video files and they will stay in the order I put them in.

I have vlc 1.1.2

 

You will have to set up which media files that VLC will be the default for. There is an extensive list of codecs and they are not all chekc by default.

Wel I go into vlc set file ***. and I check the box at the top that says all.

But the check box for every file type look like they have a gray check in it? And if I click on a check box it does not takeit out.

So I got confused?
