VLC video not playing smoothly

So. The problem is kind of messed up. The video (any format) plays in a low frame rate but when I shake my mouse around the screen, it plays smoothly. :|
This started when I switched from Vista to 7 (32 bit). It used to work fine in Vista.
And this is a problem only in VLC, the videos play fine in any other player. I tried switching to KM PLayer but it's really slow on my laptop. Also, since I'm more comfortable with VLC, I'd like to stick with it.
I'd really appreciate some help on this. Google didn't help.

What is the model of your laptop ? At the bottom of the laptop a sticker is located with the model

what is the free capacity of your hdd ? You can uninstall the vlc , afterwards installing this again , you could try this player

It's a Sony Vaio VGN-CR353 laptop. And the HDD capacity is 232gb.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled a lot of times. Even tried installing older versions, newer versions. Problem persists.

right click to Computer
Properties
at the System menu there is the amount of Ram , what is the capacity of your Ram ? Do you have a clean install or do you upgrade to Win 7 from Vista ? You can also run this tool at the first place

My RAM is 2gb. And I had upgraded from Vista to 7.
