Voice Dictation Programs????

I thought that I had seen a download in the download section here on MG's for a voice software that you could use for dictation. I looked in several sections but didn't see anything. What I want to be able to do is plug in a microphone to the computer and speak into the mic and let the program transcribe what I say. Or, I want to be able to hook up my taperecorder to the computer and have the program transcribe the tapes. Is there any "freeware" that does this. Any "shareware"? "trial-ware"? What exactly do you call this type of software? Thanks in advance for any and all help or advice. Merry Christmas!

 

I think Dragon NaturallySpeaking software can do what you are looking for. I'm not sure though if they have trial version for download or not.

Take a look also at free and open source VoxForge, maybe it will do what you are after.
