Has anyone used either of these programs and if so could you provide some feedback of your experiences. Can you trust these programs to be integral and not compromise security?

I have used both but mostly Skype.

The drawbacks I found with Skype:

:( Inability to reach voicemail from another phone.

The benefits I found with Skype:

    :p Large user network
    :) Pleasant prerecorded Voicemail message.
    :) Better pricing.***
    :p Solicitation for feedback
    :) Call diagnostics
    :) Easy user interface.

The drawbacks I found with Gizmo:

:( Received calls to previous inbound number owner. When these were forwarded to my other numbers they ate up my outbound Credits.
    Fewer area codes available.
 Smaller network for Gizmo to Gizmo contacts.
    Pricing***

The benefits I found with Gizmo:

:) voicemail retrievable from regular phones.
:) voicemail send to email address.
    :) SIP connectivity.
    :) 2-way sms.

*** :p Pricing has changed. I am now going to use Gizmo for awhile.
