Vol controle language file ??

I instaled some modded drivers for my sound card but when i did it changed my vol controle to a dif language...any one know what file controles the language ? Its not sndvol32.exe btw.. Iv fixed it before but i forgot what file it was... ....

According to Process explorer, it uses module wdmaud.drv

Do other apps that reside with audio have a similar issue? Such as: mmsys.cpl, sndrec32.exe ?

If so, then sndvol32.exe is calling a dll (perhaps) that has been modded. Which then one needs to find what .dll that sndvol32 is linked to.

 

Another question. What is the date stamp of the file?

Mine is: 8/23/01

If it was modded then this may have been changed.


I have installed foreign (non-US) drivers in the past that have does this sort of corruption/change. I'd roll back the drivers.

I have found the dll's that are used by this app, but, I'm getting into grounds I'm unfamiliar with.

 

Its a .dll i beleve that does it... can you list / gess what one might be doing it ?
are you meaning the date created ?? that whould be 8/4/04 ... another thing the modded driver pack dosent install or have a "wdmaud.drv" with it so thats prolly not it....

Actually, I checked the date, via the command shell (excellent/bad habit of mine).

The list of dependencies:

Can you provide the link to the download for this mod? It may help me (or someone else) with an attempt to mod the mod, so to speak.

I have a "inres.dll" in my windows dir and a "inResEng.dll" in the folder of the moded driver....any clue about that or is it a dead end ??

 

Well, the links I tried, failed, as in I could not find a downloadable link to the driver.

When you installed the driver, did you REMOVE the official creative labs driver before you installed this one?

inres and inresENG are both creative labs based files.

When you say dead end. I'm merely grasping at straws, so to speak.

My thinking is that a particular file, that may not really be partial to Creative, may have been modded. I'm just wondering which file was modded. Hence my troubleshooting this. Which could be easier if I had your driver package.

Just note, this may take a wee bit of time. For me that is.

 

Well its a bit mute now as i currupted the bios in my desktop .... oh well im suprised i made it this far w/o a bios savor.... Well ill have it back up buy tomarrow

I dont think the moded drivers can be found to download any more ill look thow....

 

desktop back up... apparantly the bios chip whent bad so gatta order a new one .. oh well im using my good ol delta L ....

Any way back on track....here are the names of all the DLLs that come with the drivers..

 

Ok my infinity is back up....ganna dig around and see if i can find any .dlls that the windows dir and the moded drivers have in common but the official drivers dont...

Whats the reason behind the unoffical drivers? I mean why are you using unofficial drivers?

 

Long story, but long story short creative has no real dif. from the audagy 2 to the live i have now (hardware wise) the only dif. is the drivers you install. The moded drivers give my the audigy 2 quality . but weard text in my vol control ....

 

Can you prove this? I highly doubt this, Like a link to a site detailedly explaining this?

I stand corrected ACE but i personally don't feel comfortable using unofficial drivers.

So if your really wanting the best quality, buy the best card? Even though people say it works, doesn't mean the hard ware on the card is the exact same, plus the inputs for an audigy are different and more options.

 

Thats exactly the catch.. as with overclocking. people dont always have the $ for better hardware. But if thay can get a bit more performance out of what thay have. woo hoo! ...

No that whould be here Im running a SBLive card... thow it looks like it might be a newer version then the one i have...but yea thats the site ..

 

NM thats the exact same drivers i have...the "YouP-PAX VI v2.2 Music Ultra"..

 

When I attempted the install it gave me four options. Minus the uninstall, which option did you choose?

 

Hmm i never used the installer (it never worked for some resion)..... I just whent in device manager and updated the driver.. I used wdma_emu.inf .....

Okay, I installed the PAX drivers. I have no issues with the language file.

Since you have issues with the language file, I'd recommend uninstalling the drivers, reboot, cancel any window asking to install the drivers for your sound card, then re-installing the PAX drivers.

If this fails, then I'll uninstall my drivers again, then use the chinese/korean/japanese version of the installer.

I do want to note that I do understand the initial installer failed for you. Can you explain how it failed? Did it say something like, couldn't detect hardware? It did for me, once, then I rebooted, and followed my steps above. Everything is running normal for me.

I'm sure eventually, we'll get this tackled, or (once again I state) someone will give an easier option!

In the end, I'm hoping I can duplicate your problem, since it will be easier to troubleshoot your problem on my end.

 

Thats the thing... I cant run the installers. When i go to run them nothing happens, thats why i used the .inf instead....

 

So, you downloaded the installer, run them, and nothing happens.

Actualy its going fairly fast... Looks like ill have it in under a half an hour .....

 

The installer is all messed up.... I used CTZAPXX.exe to install the drivers...
These are newer drivers apparantly.... I lost 32bit in Modpug and 96Khz still crashes modplug in some songs ( thow i think thats a modplug thing ) i do get better marks in RMAA (rightmark audio analyzer) thow again i lost 32bit but it does sound better and i have normal volume control ....

 

Scratch that... EAX is horrable in games .. but every thign else sounds better. Do you know what file controls EAX ?? The older drivers had good EAX. If i can find what file it is i can swap them and have the best of both worlds ....

 

Ok after messing with them for more less the whole day,
the live drivers here are the exact ones i was using at the start of this thread
they have the best all around sound quality.
I found the damn annoying language file its ctdlang.dat... I have fixed the vol control text problem and have mutch better sound ..

ok EAX dident work....tryed somthign and i have EAX and better then then stock sound. but now i need to zix the vol controle lables ....

 

So, what did you do to fix EAX, then break the lang file?

 

I got the installer to work.... somehow ....but i still have the window lable and the main volume messed up..... I can live with the weard text if i need to....

What i realy whant to do now is run the EAX drivers from "Only for SBLive" here. And run the regular sound drivers from "PAX Audigy 4 Modified Driver - For Audigy 1/2/ZS Series Only" here .
If you get what im saying..... The "Only for SBLive" drivers give me good working EAX in games... The "PAX Audigy 4 Modified Driver - For Audigy 1/2/ZS Series Only" drivers give me mutch better sound quality in music and movies, but the EAX is very choppy.
