    Hey folks

Just something I was trying last week in a novel idea to get a PC up and running with your favoured apps quickly and hands free!! It doesnt cover every application but covers many common ones, but feedback on apps you think maybe good to add.

    Volery

Volery is beta and by invite only at present and will in the future be paid application (no prices set at present) but for the members here that have to deal in setup of multiple PCs and I know of a few of you off hand (KingSteve, abz1nthe to name a few) would like this sort of automated installer.

I tried it in Windows 7 and worked at treat, did have to run the installer as admin, so maybe same in Vista, but liked the idea so much that I did feedback to the creators the fact that I thought it a great app and time saver, Patrick Swieskowski one of the creators emailed me and kindly offered a demo code for members here so if you want to try this app out goto the Volery here and enter the demo code majorgeeks (its only good for 1st 100 users).

    Awesome idea.

I'm buying a new laptop in a couple of weeks when 7 comes out, so I registered.

    Thanks, D :)

    Hey Halo, nifty, but...
    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/4774/getvolery-makes-installing-software-incredibly-simple/
I'm probably missing something. But the this is pretty much like FDM, or another download manager. Where one can queue up all the apps to D-load and manually run from DL folder.
I guess the novelty lies in "no tool bars and other junk". I'm wondering what other junk means :confused.
For example for AVG8.5. comes with more than just a toolbar. This it would catch. But it would let through the link scanner(Many don't want it). So when one runs the installer, the option would still be there to uncheck?
Like I said I'm prob missing something. No way I'll pay for this app.. unless I've got it all wrong LOL

    Cheers..

    Hi Sikvik

Yes I see what you mean but this app is not a download manager per say, but its a custom installer, that you choose the apps you defaulty want and it created a custome installer exe file for you based on your choices, then when you run it, it dowloads and then installs the apps you choose over a download manager that would download all the apps you wanted but then you would have to go through the steps on installing each one at a time.

This way its like many network admins do in an Unattended setup.

As for the other junk, give the developer a holler and ask as the install setup is fully automatic as if it had to stop to ask for about setup and various different options then it would not be automatic, didnt try it with AVG as not my favoured AV. I tried with AVG and it will install the link scanner component, but you can disable this later if you dont wish it.

This app is a work in progress and while may suit many it wont suit all.

Ok David, goes without saying - I'm confused. Having to elevate to install is some what manual.
I need to read up on domain Vs local admin. :zzz
Knowing me, I'm on the wrong track..

    Cheers..

Ok I should read more carefully. Installation of Volery required elevation. The installation of chosen apps, was totally automated. Dense moment
    Cheers..
