   i have a pavillion dv7 with windows7. i used to see a bar on screen that shows how high it is. Now it is gone, i still have volume control but the bar that displayes the volume is gone. Any help would be appreciated

   Look in your programs list for any HP folders that might contain any MediaSmart controls - I'd be willing to bet that the 'volume bar' is a MediaSmart thingy.
