Greetings. The volume button on my Gateway Laptop seems to have partially stopped working. Previously the monitor would display a series of green bars that indicated the volume dynamically as I adjusted it. Now, the button seems to adjust the volume, but sans the graphic indicator. How can I remedy this?

The computer in question is a Gateway MX7118.

    Thanks for any input.

    I would try this:

    1. Right-click My Computer
    2. Select 'Manage'
    3. Click 'Device Manager'
    4. Expand 'Keyboards'
    5. For every item there, right click and select 'Uninstall'
    6. Reboot the machine

When windows reloads, it will re-install the keyboard drivers. Hopefully this corrects the issue with the volume button.
