Volume control for browsers

    I know we all go through this want to hear the tunes but, the brower volume is at the same level as the music. Has anyone come up with a program to control the volume in the browser so as to be able to turn it down in Windows. it is it's own indepent voice that gets mixed in the sound card. I sure would like to control it.

    Agreed with MarkT, long running question as to why, think from what I know too many APIs would need to be called on for various different music/video/audio streams to "maybe" make the browser volume control an easy task, these things always sound easy. But when you have Flash, Java, QT and various other add-ons in websites all developing sound, would need some thought into developing this.


    Weirdest occurance I have noticed with Windows Vista is its control mixer, note the IE sound volume, does list Opera and Firefox too, although no cheers of joy just yet as its not stable and once I close that menu, its variable to whether I get it back again.

    Offhand dont know if this is being developed in IE8 and MarkT would likely know more if Firefox/Mozilla was persuing this option, seems a good one for userability, Windows does allow control to some applications sound levels alternative to the speaker and System sound levels (only checked in current Vista) but not many depends again if programmed to do so.
