Vomlume/Sound

    When I try to use volume control getting message There are no active mixer devices available. Tried to add it through the control panel but not having any luck...Please help.

    What sound card do you have? (Under Audio tab in the Control Panel, what is listed?)

    It also helps if you mention the brand and model of computer. We have no idea if you have a desktop or laptop. We also don't know if you have a sound card or just a chip on the motherboard.

    It helps to mention what version of Windows you are running.

    It says it finds no audio device but, I do have one. In the Audio tab, it says No Playback Device. I have a Dell Intel Pentium (R) 4 CPU with Windows XP. I(n the device manager, under other devices, it has listed with a ? Multimedia Audio Controller.

    Hi Alfred,

    It's not complaining that there is no Audio Card but that there is no driver for the one you have. Plodr can help you but give him the info he asks for and you will need to reload the driver.

    I need to know the exact model of Dell. I can't figure out what hardware you have until I know the model. (Dimension, Inspiron, Optiplex as well as the numbers and letters after the name).

    First do you have a desktop, laptop or all in one?
    Next What does it say on the case?
    Turn it over and look on the label for a laptop. On a desktop the label might be on the back, the side or the bottom of the case.

    Yup, plodr is female. I guess since I'm now officially a senior citizen, I can no longer refer to myself as a gal. :cry But I refuse to descibe myself as an "old lady". :p
